🌿 English Yew (Taxus baccata) | Potted | 120–150cm (approx. 4–5 feet) | 12 Litre
Over a metre tall. In a 12 litre pot. At this price. The generosity of size and quality here is genuinely exceptional — and rare.
At 120–150cm in true planted height (approx. 4–5 feet, measured without pot — unlike many suppliers who include the pot in their measurements), these are serious, well-established specimens. The 12 litre pot provides a root system of a scale that most competitors simply don’t offer at this size or price point — meaning faster establishment, greater resilience, and a plant that performs from day one. Growing at 20–40cm per year, plant at 2 per metre for a formal hedge that will define your garden for generations.

✨ Why the Size and Quality Here is Exceptional
Genuine 120–150cm height: Measured without the pot — many suppliers include pot height in their measurements. What we say is what you get.
12 litre pot — outstanding root development: A root system of this scale at this price is genuinely rare. It means faster establishment, thicker growth, and a plant that hits the ground running.
Incredible specimen quality: Hand-selected for density, form, and foliage — thick, bushy plants with rich dark needles, not the thin, leggy stock found elsewhere.
Clips to a razor edge: The only hedging plant that holds a truly sharp, architectural edge year after year — the first choice of landscape designers and estate gardeners.
Full sun to deep shade: Performs equally well in any light condition — one of the most versatile hedging plants in the UK.
Fully hardy & centuries-proven: Native to the UK; tolerant of chalk, clay, pollution, and exposed sites.
🌱 Care Instructions
Light: Full sun to full shade — highly adaptable.
Water: Keep well watered during the first growing season; drought tolerant once established.
Soil: Well-drained soil is essential — Taxus will not tolerate waterlogging.
Pruning: Trim once or twice a year (late summer recommended).
Spacing: Plant 2 per metre for a solid, formal hedge.

Planting Tips
💧 Watering – Essential for Success
Consistent watering is vital from day one. Ambient rainfall is rarely sufficient, especially in the first season after planting. Water deeply and regularly to help roots establish — this is the main condition of our plant guarantee. Plants that are allowed to dry out may fail to establish and will not be covered under warranty.
Rootballed Plants
Handle rootballed plants with care and do not remove the hessian sacking, netting, or metal wire around the rootball. These materials are designed to hold the root system together during planting and will naturally break down in the soil. Simply place the rootball in the prepared planting hole, making sure it sits at the same depth it was previously growing. Backfill with soil, firm in gently, and water thoroughly.
Potted Plants
Remove the plant carefully from its pot and lightly tease out any circling roots before planting. Place it in a hole slightly larger than the pot, ensuring the top of the rootball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill, firm in gently, and water generously.
Trees & Tall Plants
When planting trees or taller plants, always provide a strong stake or support for at least the first growing season. This helps the roots establish firmly and prevents wind damage. Position the stake on the windward side and secure the stem loosely with a soft tie, allowing for slight movement.
