🌟 INCREDIBLE QUALITY β€” THE FINEST POTTED YEW AT THIS SIZE

βœ“ Hand-selected specimens of exceptional quality β€” dense, bushy, and beautifully formed
βœ“ 7.5 litre pot β€” far more root mass than competitors at this size
βœ“ The gold standard of formal hedging β€” used in Britain's finest gardens for centuries
βœ“ Plant any time of year β€” no seasonal restrictions

    🌿 English Yew (Taxus baccata) | Potted | 80–100cm | 7.5 Litre

Quality that sets us apart. These are not the spindly, thin-stemmed yews you'll find at garden centres β€” these are exceptional, hand-selected specimens with dense, bushy growth, rich dark foliage, and a root system that means business.

At 80–100cm in height, supplied in a generous 7.5 litre pot, these plants arrive with real presence and a root system far superior to what competitors offer at this size. They settle in quickly and grow at 20–40cm per year β€” building towards the kind of formal hedge that defines a garden for generations. Plant at 2 per metre.

✨ Why Our Quality Stands Apart

    • Exceptional specimen quality: Hand-selected for density, form, and foliage β€” thick, bushy plants that look magnificent from day one, not the thin, leggy stock found elsewhere.

    • Superior root system: The 7.5 litre pot provides far more root mass than competitors at this size β€” meaning faster establishment, greater resilience, and a plant that performs from the moment it goes in.

    • Rich, deep green foliage: Dense, fine-textured needles with the luxurious dark colour that makes Taxus the first choice for formal gardens and estate hedging.

    • Clips to a razor edge: Responds superbly to trimming β€” the only hedging plant that holds a truly sharp, architectural edge year after year.

    • Full sun to deep shade: One of the few hedging plants that performs equally well in any light condition.

    • Fully hardy & centuries-proven: Native to the UK; tolerant of chalk, clay, pollution, and exposed sites. A plant that will outlast generations.

    🌱 Care Instructions

    • Light: Full sun to full shade β€” highly adaptable.

    • Water: Keep well watered during the first growing season; drought tolerant once established.

    • Soil: Well-drained soil is essential β€” Taxus will not tolerate waterlogging.

    • Pruning: Trim once or twice a year (late summer recommended).

    • Spacing: Plant 2 per metre for a solid, formal hedge.

    Planting Tips

πŸ’§ Watering – Essential for Success

Consistent watering is vital from day one. Ambient rainfall is rarely sufficient, especially in the first season after planting. Water deeply and regularly to help roots establish β€” this is the main condition of our plant guarantee. Plants that are allowed to dry out may fail to establish and will not be covered under warranty.

    Rootballed Plants

Handle rootballed plants with care and do not remove the hessian sacking, netting, or metal wire around the rootball. These materials are designed to hold the root system together during planting and will naturally break down in the soil. Simply place the rootball in the prepared planting hole, making sure it sits at the same depth it was previously growing. Backfill with soil, firm in gently, and water thoroughly.

    Potted Plants

Remove the plant carefully from its pot and lightly tease out any circling roots before planting. Place it in a hole slightly larger than the pot, ensuring the top of the rootball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill, firm in gently, and water generously.

    Trees & Tall Plants

When planting trees or taller plants, always provide a strong stake or support for at least the first growing season. This helps the roots establish firmly and prevents wind damage. Position the stake on the windward side and secure the stem loosely with a soft tie, allowing for slight movement.
