💰 SUPERB VALUE — GAIN 2 SIZES IN A SEASON

✓ Buy now at this price — add 30–40cm this year
✓ Larger pot than competitors — thicker, denser plants, not spindly nursery stock
✓ Plant any time of year — no seasonal restrictions
✓ The refined alternative to Cherry Laurel — darker, glossier, more elegant

🌿 Portuguese Laurel (Prunus Lusitanica) – 80–100cm Planted Height | 7.5 Litre Pot

Outstanding value at this size — buy now and watch it jump two size brackets within a season or two.

At 80–100cm in planted height (excluding pot), this is already a well-established, lush specimen. Supplied in a generous 7.5 litre pot — larger than many competitors — meaning a bigger root system, thicker stems, and denser foliage from the start. With growth of 30–40cm per year, you'll quickly have a plant that would cost significantly more to buy at that size today.

⚠️ Unlike many suppliers, all heights quoted by Hedging Supplies are the true planted height — excluding pot height. What you see is what you get.

Why Buy Now at This Size?

    • Exceptional value: Buy at today's price and gain 30–40cm per year — jumping size brackets without paying the premium.

    • Larger pot than competitors: Our 7.5 litre pot means more root mass, thicker plants, and faster establishment — not the spindly stock you'll find elsewhere.

    • Honest planted height: 80–100cm is the plant height only — many suppliers include the pot. We don't.

    • Year-round planting: Pot grown — plant any time, unlike seasonal rootball.

    • More refined than Cherry Laurel: Smaller, darker, glossier leaves — a more elegant, formal appearance.

    • Exceptionally tough: Tolerates coastal exposure, pollution, wind, chalk, and clay.

    • Low maintenance: One trim per year keeps it immaculate.

    🌱 Care Instructions

    • Light: Full sun to partial shade.

    • Water: Water regularly until established; drought tolerant once settled.

    • Soil: Most well-drained soil types.

    • Pruning: Trim once a year in late summer.

    • Hardiness: Fully hardy across the UK including coastal sites.

    Planting Tips

💧 Watering – Essential for Success

Consistent watering is vital from day one. Ambient rainfall is rarely sufficient, especially in the first season after planting. Water deeply and regularly to help roots establish — this is the main condition of our plant guarantee. Plants that are allowed to dry out may fail to establish and will not be covered under warranty.

    Rootballed Plants

Handle rootballed plants with care and do not remove the hessian sacking, netting, or metal wire around the rootball. These materials are designed to hold the root system together during planting and will naturally break down in the soil. Simply place the rootball in the prepared planting hole, making sure it sits at the same depth it was previously growing. Backfill with soil, firm in gently, and water thoroughly.

    Potted Plants

Remove the plant carefully from its pot and lightly tease out any circling roots before planting. Place it in a hole slightly larger than the pot, ensuring the top of the rootball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill, firm in gently, and water generously.

    Trees & Tall Plants

When planting trees or taller plants, always provide a strong stake or support for at least the first growing season. This helps the roots establish firmly and prevents wind damage. Position the stake on the windward side and secure the stem loosely with a soft tie, allowing for slight movement.
